Built from the inside out — just like the businesses I work with.
I didn't always live like this. For most of my life — right into my early forties — I lived the life I thought I was supposed to live. A career in defence industry and large corporations. A marriage of 23 years, a couple of holidays abroad a year, mortgage on the detached house with a couple of Mercedes parked in the drive. A path that looked right from the outside but on the inside, felt increasingly hollow.
I had always felt like there should be more than this. I felt like I had been sleep walking my whole life, going through the motions but never feeling like it was ever enough.
And then, everything changed, my marriage ended and I went through - what I can only call a deep existential crisis - the dark hour of the soul (although in reality, it lasted for over a year). During the dark times, i started to do things I had never done before, at first it was an escape a much needed distraction.
I had never camped before I went out and bought a tent and all the camping kit. I started solo camping, wild camping, I discovered wild swimming, hiking, and even took surfing lessons. I developed a deep connection with the outdoors and nature. I embarked on a healing journey that led me deeper into nature, into community — and gradually, into a life that finally felt like mine. I turned vegan, started volunteering for environmental projects, connecting with grassroots organisations doing genuinely good work in the world.
I found myself, aligned with my values, I discovered my purpose and ignited my passion for life. And somewhere in all of that, Pure Improvement was re-born.

Because here's what I know now that I didn't know then: when you live out of alignment with your values, everything suffers. Your health. Your relationships. Your work. Your sense of self. And the same is true for businesses. When a business loses sight of its why — when purpose gets buried under pressure, processes get unwieldy , and people feel disconnected — everything and everyone, suffers too.
But I also know the opposite to be true. Purpose-driven businesses don't just feel better — they perform better. When people understand the greater good they are part of, something shifts. They bring more of themselves to their work. They become more creative, more passionate, more committed. They stop just doing a job and start doing something that matters. And that quality — that spark — is impossible to manufacture. It has to be felt. It is the touch of magic that only people can bring to a business, and it only appears when they are truly connected to something they believe in.

That is why we do what we do. We build effective, efficient systems, so people are free — free from the noise, the waste, the endless firefighting — and free to do the work that truly inspires them. I bring 25 years of business improvement and management systems expertise — including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001, AS9100 and Lean Six Sigma— I have 10 years coaching and teaching experience and I am passionate about bringing the best out of people, my lived experience of transformation, and a deep, unwavering belief that doing good and doing well are not opposites. They are the same thing, done right.

25 years of Business Improvement, Transformation and Quality Assurance has given me a holistic, macro view of how businesses work. I can see the whole picture, where the gaps are, where the pressure points are, what is holding a business back and what it needs to move forward. That means I know from the outset exactly when and where specialist expertise is required and when it isn't.
Every company is different, and every programme is unique. Often, the work that is needed is well within my own expertise, and it is just me working closely with you from start to finish.
